Showcasing artwork by Peter Rowe
Cup From Above is proud to showcase artwork by Peter Rowe for the month of September. Peter, who was born with Down Syndrome, is a talented artist, illustrator, writer and presenter. He uses art to creatively express what he cannot verbally communicate.
Peter’s art is on display in the cafe and is available for purchase, with part of the proceeds going towards this month’s local community project: supporting Community Access Respite Services (C.A.R.S.) by raising money to provide one week’s worth of emergency respite for people with disabilities.
We’re also really excited to be hosting a book launch to celebrate the release of Peter’s latest children’s book Josh Goes to the Library, the fifth book in the Josh the Robot series. Make sure you get along to the launch on Saturday 27th September at 5pm, followed by our regular Community Concert at 6pm.
Aveo Retirement Village Artists Albany Creek
Cup From Above is honored to be able to exhibit a small collection of beautiful artworks from the Aveo retirement Village art group. Just a few suburbs away in Albany Creek a small group of retirees; beginner and experienced alike, gather together once a week with brushes in hand to spend time creating beautiful artworks. One resident shared that as well as learning from their art facilitator, the more experienced artists among the group, love to share their rich knowledge with those who are just uncovering their talent. Although this is only a small collection, you will be able to see the care and skill that has gone into painting delicate petals, glints of light on water and the beautiful colors of nature. We hope that you can enjoy these precious works as much as we do! Artworks from Aveo Retiree art group Albany Creek will be exhibited until the end of May.
A special thank you to all the amazing artists from Aveo Albany Creek!Read More

Jo Morris’ Art Exhibition
Jo Morris is a true inspiration. At the age of 5, 1995, she was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis. This physical disability caused severe muscle-wasting resulting in Jo being confined to a wheelchair. With great determination and a passion for art Jo taught herself to paint and has developed herself as an artist.
Jo graduated in 2008 from the Brisbane School of Distance Education. She successfully completed a Certificate II in Creative Arts and received many awards including several honour awards and also the ‘Endeavour Award’.
Since then she has displayed and sold work through Martin Galleries and other local art shows.
This year Jo won the ‘People’s Choice Award’ at Art From The Margins. Jo also won a Special Artistic Merit Award through the Everylife Art Contest USA.
Here are some pictures of her art…
Jo’s work will be up for the month of November 2012. 10% of all purchases go towards ‘Believe in Bella‘. If you would like to purchase one of Jo’s paintings or simple speak with her then let us know here.
